To the editor:
When I think of the challenges ahead for Newburyport, whether they be citywide or local, I want Stephanie Niketic’s wise counsel.
When it comes to smaller, local issues, nobody is as attuned to the concerns of Ward 2 residents as Stephanie is. She believes that neighbors should have input into decisions affecting them and in recent years has encouraged this on a larger scale through her amazingly informative newsletter.
On the most significant and complicated city planning issues – the water and sewer system and the Waterfront West development – Stephanie’s well-known attention to details and to financial implications, and her persistence in finding fair and balanced decisions, will benefit all citizens.
I have known Stephanie for about 20 years, during which I have often seen her in action before meetings of City Council, city boards and commissions.
She has always been an effective spokesperson for residents’ concerns. She is concerned about the impact of projects on neighborhoods, and the overall affordability of large developments. She grasps the nuances of issues, and gets to the nitty gritty. Count on Stephanie to make a positive difference for Ward 2 and Newburyport residents.
